NHSTA reported that Distracted Driving contributed to over 74% of all "On-the-Job" vehicle accidents! Speeding contributed to nearly 31% and Driving Impaired contributed to 18% of job-related vehicle accidents.
Why is Distracted Driving so dangerous?
When drivers are distracted, their attention is temporarily divided between what is often referred to as the “primary task” of driving and “secondary tasks” not related to driving. During cell phone conversations a driver’s cognitive (ie thinking) resources are being used to analyze both the driving situation (the primary task) and the conversation taking place (the secondary task). As a result, the driver’s situational awareness, decision-making, and driving performance are impaired.
